Saturday Night Update
Mindy gets to hold Shepherd tonight! Just before putting in an arterial line (which will make holding him more difficult) the team is going to give "mom" a chance to hold son. The the arterial line will be put in, which will allow for easier blood draws, constant blood pressure monitoring, and get Shepherd ready for surgery on Tuesday. Thanks all, we will post again tomorrow.

Justen and Mindy, Shepherd is absolutely beautiful! What a blessing to have a baby. I am sure you are experiencing such a range of emotions at being new parents, but also having such worries over Shepherd's surgery. I will be praying for your baby. I hope you are able to rest when you can and be there for Shep when you can. Hugs! Blessings to all of you.

Justen and Mindy - I have a wealth of information that I think you two may be interested in. My niece was down at UCSF right after birth for open heart surgery 5 and a half years ago, and my sister in law has said you can give her a call if you have any questions or needs. She also recommended a great support group here in Sac, so I can forward your information on to them, if you would like. There is unfortunately a large community of parents who have gone through what you two are going through right now, and they are all so willing to extend a hand, a shoulder, and to answer questions. Give me or Steve a call or drop us an email if you need anything. Lots of love to the three of you!!
